An Introduction

3/23/08 04:21 pm - Easter Weekend in Victoria.

I'm distressingly attracted to the familiar.

11/17/07 04:34 pm - This is a test.

Tonight I bit my tongue pretty bad. )

2/17/07 07:09 pm

Ooh, look at the new shoes I bought myself! Aren't they cute and innocent, just perfect for walking over to get a tea.

Always break in new shoes before walking to Starbucks in them. )

1/18/07 04:54 pm

Today my sewing and drafting teacher openly used L.S.D. as an acronym for remembering the steps of pant design.

Seriously.

1/12/07 06:02 pm - Winter Break Happened

So school finally ended and the God send that was one month of winter break began with my lovely boy coming to get me.

Clover Point, Boguin' Joints and Hip Hop Cassettes. )

Notice that there's no pictures of Christmas at all.... My priorities are skewed.  But it was lovely just the same!

And now I am back in Ditchmond and surprisingly I'm actually kind of glad to be back.

11/24/06 03:22 am

On the subject of Nelly Furtado: I love how much voguing there is in the Say it Right video, and I may have a crush on Timbaland (if it wasn't for those teeth....).

On the subject of school: Its 2:20am, and I need to finish my retail binder for Wednesday.  Does anyone have any local apparel companies/designers/distributers I can add to my Master List?

On the subject of my rock: I'm coming home in three, count 'em, three weeks!  And my parents are going up island, so I will be spending Christmas by myself, which sounds like just about the most fantastic thing ever. Seriously, I have a lot of homework to do over the break.

On the subject of cellular devices: 604 813 8804 - call me, sucka!

11/7/06 03:42 pm

A couple of weeks ago I pulled my first all-nighter, and then cried had my first emo break down at school, after my drafting teacher pretty much told me to drop the course because she thought I was going to fail.

And then I came home!

Hell of a shock, its a hell of a rock. )

Also, my computer crashed on Friday, and I found out that it had a fucking virus and had to have everything on it erased.  I had to bus the tower downtown.  Me on the bus with my computer?  Not the best.  But obviously its OK now and they managed to save all my documents and pictures, but not my internet favourites which is irritating, since I had over 100 apparel companies on their, which I now have to hunt down again for my Apparel Research Binder due in 1.5 weeks.

And on that note!

10/24/06 02:25 am

So here's how it works: )

Can I just say that I love it when bands rock out on the violin.

Also, rad picture post to come.

Off to work I go!

10/7/06 07:23 pm - The Letter Eight (/ate)

And I have good ideas for "fall snow."  Yes, I do.

9/24/06 08:31 pm - Colour

This weekend I played catch up with other students, went to two craft fairs, aquired a car and worked.

JUDAH.
Theme is: the letter eight.
You have til whenever, as do I.
Good luck.

9/17/06 11:14 pm

So tonight was the Chloe Angus show!  And it was fantastic!  I helped put up posters, organize the outfits, tape the bottoms of shoes, label the models' dressing areas, set up the order chart for who goes on first etc, dress the models during their outfit changes and then set everything down at the end.  It was actually so cool.

So I didn't end up taking as many pics as I wanted to, and they're all really shit quality cause I had the flash off  (as I didn't want to startle any half dressed ladies when I took a pic in their dressing room) (and believe me, there were a LOT of half naked ladies).

9/17/06 03:19 pm

So last night started out fairly lame, but ended up being.... a bit of a gong show, and pretty fun. Vincent took me out with his friends Dean and Justin, and we were supposed to be on the guest list at Crush but ended up getting downtown way too late.

Here's my FIRS VID EVAH! of Dean explaining our sad state.

Then we went to Red Room which was pretty good (except the creepy semi homosexual older asian man from Cyber was there and he made creepy techno eyes at me - twice!)

After the club closed we went to the casino, where I lost $5 and Dean won $38, which was actually only $8 after all he spent.  So we celebrated by going to McDicks and then came here and watched Old School, and I listened to the boys spin their music.

(Apparantly I'm into house music now... or trance... or whatever the fuck this is.)

And then..... went to bed at 6:30. Oh, holler at all the homework I have accomplished this weekend.

9/15/06 03:49 pm - Kala enters the 21st century.

So today I somewhat impulsively bought a Sony Cyber-shot.  I most definitely do not have the money for a digital camera, but I figure I'm going to need it and so I did it.

If anyone has any reason for me to take advantage of the two week return period, please tell me!

Anyways, a picture post will come soon, and it will be full of all sorts of interesting things like.... Richmond! And maybe the family I live with as well - the boy is taking me out again with his buddies on Saturday so perhaps I will document what happens.

But most importantly, I will be bringing the cam with me on SUNDAY when I work at the  Chloe Angus  show (www.chloeangus.com). I'm going to be dressing models and helping to set up the event and then (since its at a nightclub) partying at the after party!

Well, other than that school is hard but I love it - I've been learning how to draft a pattern for an A-line skirt, and learning about colour theory and sewing pocket samples.

And work still sucks.

9/7/06 11:03 pm

Today something lucky happened to me (its about time).

I was buying a chocolate bar on my break from my Drafting and Sewing class, and the damn machine took my money but the bar got stuck!  I was super bitter, so I banged on the glass and then reached up on the top of the machine to shake it loose, and my hand landed in a pile of money!  As I was distracted collecting my new found coin, not only did the chocolate bar come out, but a second one as well!  So I scooped up my pile of money (which turned out to be 56 cents -  but whateva!  Free money!) and my TWO Mint Chocolate Aero bars and waltzed smugly back to class.

On another note, school is overly homeworky, but fun.  And I am making friends!  Friends that I don't really like - but whateva!  Free friends!

8/31/06 11:11 am

Ok, so its my current opinion that people need to post waaaay more often.  Here I am in my new house in Richmond and there is NOTHING to do until school and work start but explore the neighbourhood (great, its Richmond) and dick around on the internet.  But seriously, all you people who live in the Greater Van area: what can I do here (that doesn't requre a huge amount of money)? I am wasting these last precious days of summer wishing I had homework! Gah!
Anyways, enough of this bitching. I hope everyone else is having a grand time.

8/10/06 08:34 pm

So funny story (I thought, anyways):  Tonight  I trekked over to my too neglected corner store to buy the mom and I a dessert like treat.  I set down my Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, one bar and one tub, and Sam-or-Jim (its twins that run the store) says, "A treat for you and mom?" and I say, "Ha ha, yup."  "This one for mom, and the tub for you?" "Yup." And I hand him all my loose change that I had dug up from my change jar. "Getting rid of all your loose change?" "Yup."  Moral of this story, corner store owners know way too much.

In other news, has anyone ever read the lyrics to Brand New's
Sic Transit Gloria? )
Its actually the saddest and most depressing song ever.... and all its done is make me sad that growing up is so scary and confusing.  That, and eat my 13% fat ice cream faster.

Well, in real other news, I am finally getting excited for Van. I have been assured that Lindsay and other friends of mine will be over often to see me, and I of course will be home often often (whenever I have days off work) as I only have two days of classes! Hollllller.

Also, I'm super stoked for [info]king_zudah's shirt - I ran into Micheal today and he assures me that it is the raddest thing ever and not screwed up in the slightest, as you had me believing..... so yay!  Let me know when you are not working next.

Happy last quarter of summer left, guys!

7/12/06 04:58 pm

PS

I'm in Van, Vanny C, Hong-couver, Van-Groovy, Vancouver at the moment, scouting out stores to transfer to, so if any of you folk are for some reason here as well, gimme a call!  All work/scouting and no play/going out make the ferry trip almost a waste.

Kala (you know my number, and if you don't.... then I don't want to see you anyways.  Just kidding!)

6/22/06 09:31 am - Worth a Look? You decide....

That Music Thing. )
